2003 Horse - "Patches- The Colt of Many Colors"
Artwork Description: The students at Lippman Day School embrace diversity, celebrating their cultural differences and uniting over shared values and beliefs. The ability to bridge these gaps served as the inspiration for their patchwork colt. Depicting their community spirit, sixth, seventh and eighth graders collected scraps of fabric from their parents and applied them to the colt. Art teacher Karen Halpern, who has been at Lippman for half of her 36-year teaching career, coordinated the project. Jerome Lippman Jewish Community Day School is a state-accredited school founded in 1965. Gross Family Limited sponsored the colt.
