Without a moment’s hesitation, firefighters rush each day into scorching blazes to save lives and preserve family memories. For these brave men and women, the opportunity to serve others outweighs the harmful effects of smoke and fire. Students from St. Sebastian Elementary School chose to dedicate a colt honoring the bravery and daily selflessness of firefighters. St. Sebastian’s art teacher, Katrina Stoneman, led the project using authentic firefighters’ equipment from her husband, who is serving his 24th year as an Akron Fire Captain. Stoneman and a handful of talented students completed this colt using an authentic helmet, a battered pair of boots and well-worn suspenders. Three of the students have fathers who work in fire departments around the area. Dave Towell Cadillac-Saab sponsored their colt.
