Artwork Description:
Constructed in the ancient art of gladd mosaics, over 51,000pieces of glass were hand cut and applied to the horse frame (31,000 pieces) and base (20,000). The entire project was then grouted and waterproofed.

Inspiration for Artwork:
As small children, we have all looked skyward to gaze in amazement at the millions of tiny diamond-like lights twinkling back at us. Have you not wished upon a star?

The design of this rocking horse evolved from the artist's own childhood memories, as well as precious moments she has shared with her granddaughters singing "Catch a Falling Star."

If we had to wish upon a star to make our dreams come true, then maybe we would wish for a place like Akron Children's Hospital.

The name of the rocking horse comes from "Catch a Falling Star," combined with its sponsor's name, Healthcare Innovative Solutions.
