"Cute as a Button"
Artwork Description: The horse is covered in many different buttons, varying in colors and sizes. The base is adroned with both reflective and white labels decorated with children's artwork to create a geometric, quilt-like design.
Artist: Sharon Elementary School
Mrs. Yu's and Mr. Bonezzi's third grade class and art teacher Dr. Waldron lead the children in decorating the rocking horse. Sharon Elementary School is part of Highland Local Schools in Medina County.
In choosing the "button" theme, the children decided to hold a button drive. students in grades K-5 brought in buttons of all shapes and sizes and had fun sorting and classifying buttons according to their size, shape and color.
The children are very excited to be able to participate in the Horse of a Different Color event for a second time (they decorated a horse for the 2003 event).
