2003 Horse - "Pony-Tail-Gate (Ohio State Buckeyes football colt)"
Artwork Description: The only thing more traditional than a college football game is the tailgating before kickoff. The smell of grilled burgers and hot dogs waft from parking lots, where strangers bond over a shared love for their home team. Artist Michelle Spryshak Roth envisioned her colt as the embodiment of tailgating festivities to celebrate the Ohio State Buckeyes’ perfect football season. An auto body repair shop sawed open the back of her colt to make room for the instillation of a faux grill, the most vital component of a tail gate party. She used household items such as baking pans, cookie racks and lava rocks to construct the grill, which releases vibrant flames constructed from plexiglass. Signatures of all 55 players from the Buckeyes' championship team adorn the colt.
