Artwork Description:
After persuading his five-year-old sister to sit still, West Geauga High School senior Victor Cizek wrapped wet plaster strips around her arms, legs and torso while his family watched in amusement. The dried plaster captured her tiny form, which served as the model for Cizek’s young rider at the top of his carousel-themed colt. Before he began the messy procedure, he sought instruction from art teacher Irene Sukle and from a book about George Segal, the contemporary artist who perfected the process. After he finished the construction of the cheerful young girl waving from her seat on his colt, Cizek added a painted field of flowers and a cobalt blue sky. He graduated this spring from West Geauga High School as the Class of 2003’s valedictorian. He plans to attend Harvard University. Dominic Visconsi, Sr. sponsored this colt.
