2003 Horse - "Leafy Lou"
Artwork Description: The changing seasons are a defining characteristic of Ohio weather, which can switch from blinding rain to beautiful sunshine in the course of a day. The distinctive qualities of fall, winter, spring and summer inspired this “Horse of Many Seasons,” which celebrates the importance of the seasons to our life cycle and the joy each new season brings. Fifteen fourth graders from Fort Island Primary School in Fairlawn collaborated with art teacher Mary Jo Worthington and a parent to produce Leafy Lou. Their sponsor, Hasenstab Architects, Inc., a full-service, Akron-based architectural firm providing services to Children’s Hospital and many other healthcare providers for more than 21 years.
