2003 Horse - "Pat's Painted Pony ("Horse Whisperer" colt)"
Artwork Description: The nationally respected achievements of horse trainer Monty Roberts and his novel, The Man Who Listens to Horses, inspired the movie, "The Horse Whisperer," and most recently, the design of a colt painted by his wife, Pat Roberts. Pat, who is notorious for her authenticity of detail, included the silhouettes of her husband and his favorite horse, Shy Boy, on her “painted pony.” An accomplished horsewoman, Pat Roberts has bred, trained and exhibited many horses. Pat’s sculptures are displayed in private and corporate collections in more than 13 countries throughout the world. Jeff and Patti Satterfield and family sponsored the colt, which was shipped to California for Pat to design.
Artist: Roberts, Pat
An accomplished horsewoman, Pat Roberts has bred, trained and exhibited horses. These years of experience have given her the opportunity to study the subject she loves best, the horse in motion. Pat endeavors to always be true to her subject with authenticity of detail. A busy wife, mother and business executive, Pat's kitchen also serves as her studio where working clay models can be seen next to life size artifacts.
In 1996, Pat completed a sculpture called "Moment of Join Up", which depicts her husband, Monty, communicating with a young horse. A limited edition was released at the launch of Monty's first book, "The Man Who Listens to Horses." This bronze is now in the personal collection of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
Pat's sculptures are in private and corporate collections in over 13 countries throughout the world. Her work can be seen in the European Museum of Art, Clarence, New York, Osborne Studio Gallery, London and at her home studio at Flag is Up Farms in Solvang, California.
